HISTORY OF CANADA INTRODUCTION

Canada is a country in North America. Its ten states and three territories are spread between the Atlantic and the Pacific and the Arctic Ocean, making it the world's second-largest country according to the total area including the land and water. Its border with the United States, spread around 8,891 kilometers (5,525 mi), is the world's longest bi-national land border.

HISTORY:

Indigenous peoples in present-day Canada include the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis, the latest being a mixed-blood people who originated in the mid-17th century when First Nations people married European settlers and later developing their own identity. The first inhabitants of North America are generally assumed by the historian to have moved from Siberia by way of the Bering land bridge and arrived at least 14,000 years ago. The Semi-Indian archeological sites at Old Crow Flats and Bluefish Caves are two of the oldest sites of human habitation proofs in Canada.

GEOGRAPHY:

Including land and water, Canada is the second-largest country in the world, after Russia. By land area alone, however, Canada ranks fourth, due to having the world's largest part of freshwater lakes. Stretching from the Atlantic Ocean in the east, along the Arctic Ocean to the north, and the Pacific Ocean in the west, the country covers in total 9,984,670 km2 of territory.

RELIGION AND LANGUAGES:

Canada is religiously filled with varied types, covering a wide range of beliefs and customs. Canada has no official church, and the government is officially committed to various religions. Freedom of religion in Canada is a right, valid according to the Constitution allowing individuals to assemble and worship without limitation or interference by any government official. A variety of languages are used by Canadians, with English and French (the official languages) being the mother tongues used by approximately 56 percent and 21 percent of Canadians, respectively.

CULTURE:

Canada has placed great importance on equality and opportunities for all its people. Following varied types of cultures is often cited as one of Canada's significant accomplishments and a key significant and unique element of Canadian identity.
