HISTORY OF BANGLADESH INTRODUCTION

Bangladesh country located in South Asia. It covers an area of 147,570 square kilometers and is the 8th most populous country in the world with a population exceeding 163 million people. Dhaka is its capital city. Chittagong is the second-largest city.

EARLY MIGRATIONS:

Archaeological evidence indicates human habitation over 20,000 years ago. Austroasiatic, Tibeto-Burmans, Dravidians, and Indo-Aryans were the people who initially migrated to Bangladesh. The Ganges, Brahmaputra, and Meghna rivers were used as a medium for communication and transportation.

RELIGION AND LANGUAGE:

The country enjoys the freedom of religion making it a secular state. 90 % of the population follow Islam. The country has the largest population of Muslims after the Arabs. Sunni, Shia, and Ahmadiya are some of the Muslim communities prevalent in Bangladesh. Bishwa Ijtema is the largest political Muslim gathering held annually. The official language of Bangladesh is Bengali. Bengali is one of the branches of the Indo-European language family. Sanskrit was initially used as a language of written communication by the priests. During the Islamic period, Bengali replaced Sanskrit. Modern Standard Bengali is called lingua franca Bangladesh.

Bangladeshi taka is used as a means of currency in Bangladesh.

PLACES OF INTEREST:

One should not miss certain places in Bangladesh if one has been there. Cox’s Bazar, known for its stunning beach which stretches for an amazing 120 kilometers from north to south.The Sundarbans, the area which is covered with spectacular wildlife and is a World Heritage Site. Dhaka, known for its Buriganga River which is also famous for temples, churches, mosques, monuments, and colorful and aromatic bazaars. Srimangal, which is the tea-growing capital of Bangladesh. Chittagong is worth a visit due to the beautiful Hill Tracts of Bangladesh. Bandarban, surrounded by the mountains on three sides, is nearly 1000 meters above sea level. Saint Martin, if you want to check out the amazing aquatic life, then you must visit this island. Paharpur, one of the most fascinating Buddhist archeological sites. Kuakata, the beach has several tropical palm trees and small rivers that cut through the land to the Bay of Bengal.
